Mequon, Wisc. – La Crosse’s 9th inning comeback falls just shy of a tie against the South Division Lakeshore Chinooks. Kevin Riley homered twice and brought in all four Lakeshore runs.

After a scoreless 1st inning, Griffin Conine (Duke) continued his rampage from the plate with a solo home run with a full count to start the 2nd inning. The home run made it his 8th for the season, a big reason why he was selected to the 2016 Northwoods League Home Run Derby.

Lakeshore answered in the bottom of the 2nd with two outs. Haydon Senger (Miami-OH) and Matt Reardon (Florida Gulf Coast) singled back-to-back. Kevin Riley (Chaffey CC) gave the Chinooks the lead with a 3-run home run blast.

La Crosse cut the lead in half the next inning. Randy Labaut (Arizona) scored from 3rd on a sacrifice fly to left field by Cullen Large (William & Mary).

Kevin Riley stuck again in the 5th inning, with a leadoff solo home run to take back their 2-run lead, making it 4-2 Lakeshore.

La Crosse threatened in their final at-bats. With two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cullen Large scored from 2nd on an error by the Chinooks first baseman. But, with the tying runner on 3rd base, Garrett Zech (South Florida) flew out to left to end the game.

Nick Lackney (Minnesota) picked up his 1st win of the season (1-1). He went 4 innings in relief, giving up no runs on 2 hits. He walked 3 batters and struck out 3 also.

Jon Teaney (San Diego) dropped to 4-3 on the season. He went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 4 Chinooks.

Joe Stoll (Ohio State) picked up his first save of the season with a 1/3 of an inning of relief work in the 9th inning.

La Crosse stays in town for one more game before the All-Star Break. Game time is an early 1:35 PM. Catch the game on the Loggers Radio Network, Eagle 102.7 or the Loggers Radio App. The pregame show starts at 1 pm.
