La Crosse, Wisc. – Mark Nowaczewski throws 8.1 scoreless innings and the Loggers’ offense scores 7 runs in the 5th inning, as La Crosse blows out the Waterloo Bucks 11-0.

The original start time was delayed to 12:35 due to travel issues by the Waterloo team this morning. The Bucks had a late night after losing a 17 inning game in Mankato.

Mason McCoy (Iowa) could not wait for the game to start. He took the first pitch he saw and hit a line drive single to start the game. After a Griffin Conine (Duke) double that moved McCoy to 3rd, he scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Cullen Large (William & Mary).

Justin Wylie (San Diego State) doubled with two outs in the 2nd. Gavin Johns (UCLA) followed him with a line drive single to right-center to score Wylie.

La Crosse kept their foot on the petal, Cullen Large doubled to the left field corner, scoring Griffin Conine from 1st base. Two batters later, Large scored from 3rd on a 6-4-3 double play with no outs.

7 runs crossed on 4 hits, 3 walks, and an error. Mason McCoy capped off the inning off with a 3-run home run, extending the lead to 11-0.

The Loggers haved outscored opponents 23-2 through 4 innings, and 34-4 through 5 innings in their last 5 games.

Mark Nowaczewski (Nevada) pitched without a doubt best start of the season. He went 8.1 scoreless innings, on 1 hit. He walked 3 batters with 5 strikeouts.

Jonathan Buckley (St. Mary’s) took the loss for Waterloo (1-2). He last 4.1 innings, giving up 11 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits. He walked 4 batters with 3 strikeouts.

La Crosse makes it 5 straight wins, moving up to 13-9 in the 2nd half (30-28 overall). Waterloo falls to 9-15 in the 2nd half (31-28 overall). Both teams will be traveling south to Waterloo, Iowa tonight for a 7:05 PM game two start.
