La Crosse, Wisc. – Nick Raquet (William & Mary) throws 8 scoreless innings and Mason McCoy (Iowa) hit his 16th home run of his career for a 2-0 victory over Rochester.
Nick Raquet for La Crosse and David Worrell for Rochester held each other’s offense scoreless through three innings.
Mason McCoy broke the tie with a solo home run shot deep over the left-center wall, just to the left of the State Bank Financial scoreboard. Two batters later, Cullen Large (William & Mary) reached on a fielder’s choice. He moved to 2nd on a single by Grant Fennell (Nevada) and stole 3rd base on a double steal. Fennell stole 2nd base later in the at-bat. Te throw down to 2nd base from catcher Jackson Thoreson (St. Mary’s) was off and went into center field, scoring Large from 3rd base.
Nick Raquet pitched 8 scoreless innings for the win (4-4). He gave up only 4 hits with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts.
David Worrell pitched well, but still took the loss (1-6) for Rochester. He gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. He walked a batter with 4 strikeouts.
Mark Nowaczewski (Nevada) pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning with a strikeout for his first save of the season.
La Crosse moves to 20-14 in the 2nd half (37-33 overall). Rochester falls to 13-23 in the 2nd half (20-51 overall). The 2016 Loggers take the field for the final time this season, for a 5:05 game against the Rochester Honkers. It is Fan Appreciation Night, presented by EGS!
