La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers front office announced today that they have added three players from the University of Arizona baseball program with the signings of infielder Cameron Cannon, utility man Mitchell Morimoto and pitcher Jason Seever.

Freshman Cameron Cannon is one of the most highly touted recruits in Arizona’s recruiting class that was ranked as the 4th best in the nation by Collegiate Baseball.  Cannon, a 5-11, 190 pound infielder, was selected in the 21st Round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks before electing to pursue his collegiate career at Arizona.  The Chandler, AZ native was a 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game honorable mention all-American and was ranked as the top middle infielder coming out of the state of Arizona by Perfect Game.  Cannon hit .365 with eight home runs and drove in 51 runs over his three-year high school career at Mountain Ridge High School (Arizona).

Joining Cannon will be junior utility player Mitchell Morimoto, who is in the midst of his first year at Arizona after two all-American seasons at Mesa Community College.  As a freshman in 2015, Morimoto hit .393 with 21 doubles, seven triples, four home runs, 12 stolen bases and 45 RBI’s en route to earning NJCAA Division II second-team all-American honors.  He followed that up with an even more impressive sophomore season in 2016 when he earned a 2016 NJCAA Marucci Elite Hitter Award thanks to his .463 batting average and he was also named to the NJCAA National Team.  The Issaquah, Wash. native is no stranger to summer baseball either as he was named a West Coast Collegiate League all-start last summer when he hit .299 with 16 RBI’s and 13 stolen bases for the Yakima Valley Pippins.

Southpaw Jason Seever will be the third Wildcat coming north to La Crosse this summer.  Seever is currently sitting out the 2017 season at Arizona after transferring from Santa Clara University where he was a workhorse for the Bronocs over his first three seasons.  The 5-10, 175 pound hurler ranked second the Santa Clara team in appearances (29) as a freshman in 2014 when he went 3-2 with a 3.12 ERA and held opponents to a .215 batting average out of the Broncos bullpen.  Seever followed that up with a sophomore campaign in 2015 that saw him make 23 appearances while striking out 17 over 28 innings of work, again out of the bullpen.  As a junior in 2016, Seever moved into the rotation and ranked third on the team in starts (12) while going 6-3 with a 5.20 ERA along with striking out 51 batters over 72.2 innings pitched.

The Loggers are set to open the 2017 campaign, their 15th season in La Crosse, on Tuesday, May 30 when they play host to the Duluth Huskies at 7:05 p.m.  Gates to the brand new Coverra Insurance Services Courtyard Entrance will open at 6:00 p.m. as fans can get their first look at the newly remodeled entrance, P & P Products Pro Shop, Gerhard’s 1st Supply Restrooms and expanded concession pavilion.

The La Crosse Loggers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The 23-year-old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
