La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers front office announced today that they have added a pair of players from Duke University with the official signings of outfielder Kennie Taylor and pitcher Hunter Davis.

Outfielder Kennie Taylor is in the midst of his sophomore season at Duke looking to build upon a promising freshman campaign.  Last summer the speedster from Tampa, Fla. excelled in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League when he hit .322 with six doubles, two triples, four homers and 13 RBI’s.  The right-handed hitting Taylor also stole eleven bases and scored 24 runs in 28 games played for the Delray Beach Lightning.  Taylor is off and running this spring for the Blue Devils (13-11) as he is hitting at .278 clip with three doubles and six RBI’s.  Prior to attending Duke, Taylor earned 2015 Perfect Game honorable mention all-American honors at Jesuit High School (Florida) and was tabbed as the No. 82 outfielder in the country entering his freshman season.

Joining Taylor will be fellow Blue Devil Hunter Davis who is a key part of the Duke pitching staff.  The 6-4 sophomore has posted a 0-1 record with a 3.72 ERA over seven appearances (2 starts) so far this spring while striking out nine batters in 9.2 innings pitched and limiting opponents to a .167 batting average.  The Atlanta, Ga. native was also a big contributor as a freshman in 2016 as well when he struck out 12 batters over 13 innings while posting a 4.15 ERA over eight relief appearances.  Davis also earned 2014 & 2015 Perfect Game honorable mention all-American honors at The Westminster High School (Georgia) and was tabbed as one of the top 100 players coming out of the state of Georgia following his senior season.

Taylor, Davis and the rest of the Loggers will open their 2017 campaign at home on Tuesday, May 30 when they play host to the Duluth Huskies at 7:05 p.m. at the newly renovated Copeland Park.  Season tickets and specialty ticket packages are on sale now at LaCrosseLoggers.com or by calling the Loggers ticket office at 608-796-9553.
