LA CROSSE, WI – Searching for their first win of the season, the La Crosse Loggers took the home turf for the fourth straight night. The Lumberyard was packed with energetic fans cheering on the Loggers to victory.
On the mound for the Loggers was RHP Hunter Davis (Duke). Davis would toss 4.0 strong innings allowing three runs on four hits and striking out three before being relieved by Ebert. Cody Ebert (Columbia) bounced back from the tough loss on opening day to get the win for the Loggers. Pitching another strong 4.0 innings, Ebert allowed two runs on three hits and tallied five strikeouts. Mason McMahon (UW-La Crosse) would come in for the save in the top of the ninth. The Logger bats were too much to handle for Mankato's RHP, TJ Satterly, as he gets the loss on the night.
After three nights of below average batting performances, the La Crosse Loggers finally got the bats going Friday night. Yahir Gurrola (North Florida), Ryan Mantle (Jefferson CC), Korey Lee (California), Sage Bruhl (MATC), and Joe LaCivita (Illinois-Springfield) all added two hits of their own to the grand total of 11 hits for the Loggers. Highlights including extra base hits from Gurrola, Mantle, Lee, and Christman. One of the most impressive performances of the night goes to the freshman catcher from California. Korey Lee stepped almost directly off the plane and onto the playing surface this morning to make his presence known in a Loggers' uniform both behind and at the plate.
Fireworks could be found both on and off the field Friday night, as a FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA presented by Mayo Clinic Health System concluded the night. Your La Crosse Loggers are right back in action tomorrow and Sunday against the Waterloo Bucks. Saturday's first pitch is set for 6:05 PM. Gates will open at 5 PM for the "Happy Hour" with Howie's on La Crosse. Be sure to get there early as the first 1,000 fans will get the much anticipated former La Crosse Logger and current Milwaukee Brewer Eric Thames bobblehead.
