LA CROSSE, WI – Looking to make it two wins in a row, the La Crosse Loggers started the first of a two-game series against the Thunder Bay Border Cats. For the second night in a row, the Loggers put on an absolute show for over 2,000 Copeland Crazies by winning in a 9-8 walk-off two-run homerun fashion.
Getting the start on the mound for the Loggers was LHP Jason Seever (Arizona). Despite striking out five Border Cats, Seever did allow five runs on six hits. After working their way through a number of relief pitchers, RHP Charlie Fletcher (William & Mary) would collect the win tonight. For the Border Cats, similar pitching events would unfold. RHP Michael Bohlke got the start and the last of the relief pitchers, LHP Brady Hill, would be given the loss.
Another dynamite night for the Loggers at the plate was to thank for the win. Although the bats were silenced for the earlier portion of the game, the bats came alive when it mattered. Leading the way tonight was Kennie Taylor (Duke) going 3-for-5, including a double, Korey Lee (California) going 2-for-3, with a solo shot, Garrett Christman (Butler) going 2-for-4, including a three-run homerun, and, of course, Ryan Mantle (Jefferson CC) going 1-for-4, tallying a sacrafice hit to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh and a walk-off two-run homerun.
