LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Loggers were set for their last weekend home game of the 2017 season. The Loggers played host once again to the Rochester Honkers. The Loggers produced fireworks on the field, much like the ones seen during the post-game FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA presented by Kwik Trip. The Loggers would come out on top 15-8 as they improve to 25-33 on the season and 11-13 on the second half.

RHP Derik Beauprez (Nova Southeastern) would get the start on the mound tonight for the Loggers. After pitching 4.1 innings allowing six runs on nine hits with three strikeouts, Beauprez would receive the no decision. It would be relief pitcher, RHP Sam Messina (Army), getting the win tonight after pitching 3.2 innings allowing just one run on one hit with five strikeouts. Messina moves to 2-2 on the season with a 6.53 ERA. LHP Johnny Croley (Reinhardt) came in to the game to close allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout in 1.0 inning of work. The loss would be handed to RHP Jacob Green.

The explosive Loggers' offense would produce 15 runs on 18 hits. Leading the way at the plate were Kennie Taylor (Duke) going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two doubles, David Villar (South Florida) going 3-for-5 with five RBI mostly thanks to a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning, Korey Lee (California) going 2-for-4 with two RBI including a solo homerun, and Jake Hirabayashi (UCLA) going 2-for-3 with two RBI including a double. The Loggers' offense sure did put on a show for the 3,308 fans at The Lumberyard.

The Loggers will travel to Rochester tomorrow for a 1:05 PM game before returning home for a four-game homestand. Your La Crosse Loggers will take on the Bismarck Larks on Monday, July 31 at 7:05 PM at Copeland Park.
