La Crosse, Wis. – The La Crosse Loggers game against the Waterloo Bucks on Saturday night has been postponed due to inclement weather and will be resumed on July 8.

Thunderstorms began during the National Anthem of Saturday night’s game and ultimately limited the contest to just one half inning before lightning forced a delay. Loggers’ starting pitcher Grant Judkins (Iowa) pitched around a one out double in the top of the first inning and Waterloo starter Eric Reardon retired the first two batters in the bottom half in front of 2,871 fans at Copeland Park and Event Center. After an hour and twenty minute delay the game was postponed with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. The contest will be resumed on Sunday, July 8th at 4:05 PM CT before the Loggers’ regularly scheduled game against Waterloo, with gates opening at 3:00 and tickets for Saturday night’s game to be honored on that July 8th date.

The Lumbermen (7-4) will open a two game set against the Willmar Stingers Sunday evening with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 PM CT. Gates will open at 4:00 for Strike Out Colon Cancer Night at the Lumberyard presented by Gundersen Health System.

The La Crosse Loggers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Now in its 25th anniversary season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 190 former Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (TOR).  All league games are viewable live via the Northwoods League portal.
