ROCHESTER, MN – The La Crosse Loggers used a 12-hit attack, including two home runs from Harrison Freed (Butler) and one from Brandon Raquet (William & Mary), to beat the Rochester Honkers 10-5 Tuesday night before 491 fans at Mayo Field.
It was the fourth win in the last five games for La Crosse (9-5), which trails Bismarck and Duluth by a half-game in the Northwoods League’s North Division.
Zion Pettigrew (Iowa) went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Loggers, who rallied from a three-run deficit with five runs in the fifth, pushing their lead to 7-5.
Freed went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI, while Raquet was 2-for-3.
Grant Judkins (Iowa), who earned the win, allowed five earned runs off hits in five innings. Four relievers — Stephen Knapp (Bellevue), Cam Baumann (Iowa), Brian Schrimmer (Bradley) and Colton Larkins (Oral Roberts) — held the Honkers scoreless over the final four innings.
The same two teams will do battle again on Wednesday back at Mayo Field in Rochester to close out the series. Game time is 7:05 p.m. with air time on the Logger Nation Station, Eagle 102.7 FM, set for 6:30 p.m.
