DULUTH, MN – Two Duluth Huskies pitchers limited the La Crosse Loggers to just two hits en route to a 5-1 victory for the hosts on Tuesday night in front of 1,199 fans at Wade Stadium in Duluth, Minn.

The Huskies jumped out early when they plated three unearned runs in the bottom of the first aided by a La Crosse miscue and a pair of hits off of Loggers starter Chas Sagedahl (Southeastern CC).

The Lumbermen would show some life offensively in the fourth when Jarron Silva (UCLA) drew a one out walk before Korey Lee (Cal) would double to put runners at second and third.  The next batter, Shane McGuire (San Diego), would then single up the middle to drive in Silva but Lee was gunned down at home on a throw from the centerfielder to keep the score at 3-1.  Duluth immediately answered back with two more runs in the bottom of the frame to push the score to 5-1.

A pair of Logger relievers would toss scoreless baseball as Derek Lieurance (Iowa) pitched a scoreless fifth inning and Bill Chillari (Duke) was brilliant in his NWL debut, throwing three shutout innings, allowing only one hit while striking out four.

Sagedahl took the loss to fall to 1-1 and the Loggers dropped to 10-10 on the season.

The same two teams will conclude this two-game set on Wednesday night back at Wade Stadium.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm with air time on the Logger Radio Network set for 6:00 p.m.
