MANKATO, MN – One night after putting up twelve runs in Rochester, the La Crosse Loggers posted nine runs en route a 9-1 road victory over the host Mankato MoonDogs at Franklin Rogers Park on Monday night.

La Crosse posted one run in the first and two more in the third to stake starter Lalo Porras (Lewis-Clark) to an early 3-1 lead.   The score stayed that way until the top of the sixth when the Loggers erupted for six runs on four hits including an RBI double from Braiden Ward (Washington) and a bases clearing double from Harrison Freed (Butler).

Porras turned in six solid innings, limiting the Dogs to just one run on five hits while striking out three to earn his third victory of the summer.

Brian Schrimmer (Bradley) turned in three perfect innings of relief to earn a three-inning save, striking out three.

Mike Rothenberg (Duke) led the Loggers eight-hit attack by going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a walk.  Shane McGuire (San Diego) and Freed each drove in three runs.

The same two teams will conclude this home-and-home series at Copeland Park on Tuesday night for Military Appreciation Night, presented by Logistics Health.  Gates open at 6 and the first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with a Fireworks Extravganza to follow the ballgame.
