EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The La Crosse Loggers fought back-and-forth with the Eau Claire Express on Monday evening, but a four-run bottom of the seventh inning helped propel the Express to a 9-4 win over the Loggers at Carson Park. The Loggers took Sunday night’s contest 4-3 at Copeland Park, and their season record sits at 11-11 after the split.
JT Schwartz (UCLA) went 3-for-3 on Monday evening to continue his torrid start for the Lumbermen, after a 3-for-4 effort in his Loggers’ debut on Sunday. Leadoff batter Cody Jefferis (San Diego) added two hits and three walks in the series to raise his on-base percentage to .456.
Ryan Holgate (Arizona) hit a solo home run on Monday night and had an outfield assist from left field, en route to earning Northwoods League Position Player of the Night honors.
The Loggers return to the Lumberyard for a four-game home set, starting with a pair of games against the Waterloo Bucks. The Loggers and the Bucks are tied atop the Great Plains East.
