LA CROSSE, Wis. — The La Crosse Loggers and Thunder Bay Border Cats delivered a thriller in front of 2,740 fans at Copeland Park on Saturday night, but it was the home team left standing with a 9-8 victory after a clutch RBI single by Tony Bullard in the bottom of the 12th inning. The win is the third straight for the Loggers, who move their record to 20-20 overall and 3-1 in the season’s second half.

Bullard (Arizona) ripped a run-scoring single through the left side of the infield to score Cody Jefferis and cap off an action-packed ballgame that featured 17 runs, 28 hits, six errors, and 11 pitchers. In addition to his game-winning hit, Bullard added a two-run single in the sixth inning for a three-RBI day. JT Schwartz (UCLA)  had a 4-for-5 day at the plate, while his collegiate teammate Jack Filby added three hits on the day for the Loggers.

Recently-announced 2019 All-Star Jared Freilich (Penn State) was a force out of the bullpen on Saturday night, blanking the Border Cats (14-26) across the ninth, tenth and 11th innings to help give the Loggers offense a chance to earn the win. Andrew Zimmerman (Johnson CC) and Steve Bowley (Shepherd) each fired a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, with Bowley earning the win in his Loggers debut.
