LA CROSSE, Wis – The Loggers take an L last night in game 1 of a 2 game stint against the Rochester Honkers. The Loggers 6-8 loss bumps them down to 3rd place with a 2-3 record.

The Honkers had control for the majority of this game as they struck first and never looked back. Although, they left the door open as they scored all of their runs by the 4th. The Loggers scored 6 in the later innings for an attempted comeback, sadly it wasn’t enough.

Loggers’ starter Nate Hansen (San Diego State) struggled early as the Honkers came with their bats ready shelling out 8 hits and 4 earned runs against Hansen in his 3.0 innings pitched; earning him the loss. Nick King (Bradley) came in with the hopes of turning things around, sadly, he gave up 4 runs through .2 innings pitched. After those early struggles, Lukas Barry (Connors State), Cameron Crain (Johnson County CC), and Jon Rice (Permian Basin) came together to pitch 5.1 scoreless frames. Casey Trapp earned himself the win for the Honkers for his 5.2 innings pitched.

The Lumbermen struggled at the plate until the 6th where they came alive. Poncho Ruiz (San Diego State) had his first triple with the Loggers bringing in one run, Christian Dicochea (Washington) also had himself a night slapping a 2 RBI double in his 1-4 effort. Kevin Sim (San Deigo) returned from the injured list to make his home debut in which he got himself 2 hits.

The Loggers look to bounce back and split the series against the Honkers at home tonight. ROLL LOGS!
