There are 24 hours in a day, and today the Honkers and the MoonDogs needed just about everyone of them to complete their split double header. The first game in Rochester at 1:05 came out with a Honkers victory, before getting on the bus for the night cap in Mankato.

Little did we know, we would need our night caps. In a marathon game that lasted 4.5 hours, 14 innings and well into the night, the Dogs lost a heart-breaker 10-9 to the Honkers.

A strong second inning for both teams showed signs of what was to come as the Honkers put 3 on the board only to watch the MoonDogs score 6 in their half of the inning. It was a slug-fest all the way until the end.

The MoonDogs had chances in the bottom of the 9th, 10th and 12th innings, but were unable to capitalize and bring in the runs.

Aaron Grant, Jeremiah Piepkorn, and Jay Nessler all had 3 hits in tonight’s game. The winning pitcher for Rochester was Kroenke (3-1) while Ryan Hamilton (2-1) picked up his first loss of the season for the MoonDogs.

Next up are the Loggers from La Crosse on Thursday night, June 19 at the Frank.
