The first game of the doubleheader was the completion of a rain suspended game from July 14th. The game started exactly where the last one left off. There were 2 outs in the bottom of the third inning, a runner on second base and a 3-2 count on the batter, with the MoonDogs winning 1-0.

On the very first pitch of the game, Aaron Moll rocketed a double down the line, scoring Pete Troyer from second giving the MoonDogs a 2-0 lead. Over the next 2 innings the Mallards battled back scoring a run in each, to tie the game at 2-2.

In the bottom of the 7th, with 2 outs and a runner on second, thanks to a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt, Moll once again walked to the plate. This time rather than just hitting a double, Moll bombed his first home run of the year giving the Dogs a 4-2 lead. It would turn out to be the game-winner for the Dogs.

Pitcher Scott Fogelson got the win for the MoonDogs and Ryan Hamilton got the save. Pete Troyer and Aaron Moll were each 2-2 in the game.

The second half of the two for one deal at Franklin Rogers Park tonight was a 7-inning game. In another of the pitchers duels that the MoonDogs have found themselves in throughout the year, Warren Rosebrock and 3 Mallards pitchers matched each other pitch for pitch through 6 innings.

Each team was held scoreless, all though some opportunities had arisen. In the 5th, with runners on the corners, the Mallards tried a safety squeeze that was shut down by the great combination of Mike Dudley at first and Matt McColgan behind the plate.
It would remain tied at 0-0 until 3 consecutive singles in the 7th scored the only run of the game.

The MoonDogs challenged in the bottom half, when Jay Nessler led off the inning with a bunt single. Aaron Moll tried to bunt him over but popped out. Then with two out, Joe Ness blasted a double down the line but a quick relay held pinch runner, Philip Springman, on third. And that is how the game would end as Chris Baso was called out on strikes to end the game.

Tomorrow night is Viking Celebrity Softball night with appearances by former Viking Leo Lewis and former Minnesota Twins Star Juan Berenguer, along with local media and others. Team owner Joe Schwei will also be playing in the game. Softball starts at 5:30 with a regularly scheduled MoonDogs game at 7:05.
