The tough-luck season continues for this years MoonDogs squad. Over the weekend the MoonDogs had losses of 2-0 and 4-3 to the La Crosse Loggers, and last night to the St. Cloud River Bats 7-5.

Cole DeVries (Minnesota) would get the nod and got through the first two innings unscathed. Then in the third, the River Bats would score twice in the inning. With 2 outs, Tony Gonzalez would make a great back-handed stop, but unfortunately would bobble the exchange that led to 4 unearned runs.

Brandon Hodge (Kishwaukee CC) came in relief of DeVries in the top of the 4th and did a great job containing the River Bats for the next 5 innings. The only blemish was a solo homerun in the bottom of the 8th by Scott Hendrix (Kennesaw State) to give the ‘Bats an insurance run.

The MoonDogs "Never Say Die” attitude would show through yet again. After being down 6-0, they would battle back to make it 6-4, but would fall just short to drop to 0-5 on the year.

Outfielder Ryan Chiarelli (Santa Clara) finished the game 3 for 5 with a RBI and a run scored. Hodge finished the game pitching 5 innings, giving up 5 hits, 3 strikeouts and just the 1 run.

The MoonDogs are at home tonight to face the league leading St. Cloud River Bats with baseball great and best-selling author, Jim Bouton, in town.
