Facing a stretch of hard-luck losses in the early going of the 2004 season, the MoonDogs continue to battle and claw their way through. Last night was no different for the MoonDogs when their fight and determination finally gave them a 3-2 win against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

The MoonDogs would find themselves down early 1-0 in the 1st after a successful steal of home by the Border Cats.

Thunder Bay’s starting pitcher threw 4 innings of perfect ball before the MoonDogs got the big break they have been looking for. The break came when Baker hit a double to right field scoring two huge runs in the 5th inning.

The ‘Dogs gained an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth that proved to be the difference in the outcome of the game.

Justin Garcia pitched another masterful game going 7 1/3 innings, with 5 hits, 1 run, and six strikeouts.

Even though Neil Wagner faced some pressure in the top of the 9th, his closers mentality would pull him through, as they survived a bases loaded jam giving up only 1 run. Wagner picked up his second save of the season.

Tonight the MoonDogs open up a 2-game home stand against the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05 p.m. Tuesdays game is Can Cooler Giveaway Night presented by Bussports. The first 500 fans receive a FREE MoonDogs jersey can cooler.
