After late afternoon showers prevented teams from taking fielding and batting practice, the game went on as planned. An outstanding pitching performance by MoonDogs starting pitcher Jose Shaw went by the way-side, as the Loggers took the game 3-2.

Shaw threw an exceptional game taking a no-hitter into the 7th inning. After getting the first out of the inning, a Loggers batter would pick up the first hit of the night on a bunt single to third base. Showing his displeasure after the bunt single, Shaw seemed to get flustered by walking the next two batters.

Cole DeVries then entered for Shaw in the top of the 7th inning. An inning that eventually found the Loggers scoring 2 runs to take a 3-1 lead.

The ‘Dogs would get out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning and later would push across one more run in the bottom of the 7th.

A 9th inning rally would fall just short for the MoonDogs as they got both the tying and winning run on base. Aaron Grant’s pinch-hit single with runners on 1st and 2nd would find the hole between 3rd base and shortstop, but on a great throw from the Loggers left-fielder, Jon Shepard would be thrown out at home and the MoonDogs rally would come up empty.

Tony Gonzalez went 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored for the ‘Dogs.

On the night, Jose Shaw went 6 1/3 innings giving up just the 1 hit, 3 runs (2 unearned), and fanning 5 Loggers in an excellent debut in a MoonDogs uniform.
