Honkers Fly Away in Win

A rough outing by the MoonDogs pitching staff saw the Rochester Honkers tee off by hitting four home runs en-route to a 10-4 win.

After the MoonDogs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Honkers would put up five runs on two home runs off of ‘Dogs starter Justin Garcia in the bottom of the second.

The Honkers would add another run in the fourth inning, three more in the fifth and one more in the seventh to cap off the scoring.

With their display power, Rochester became the first team in Northwoods League history to hit four home runs in one game. John Hunter had two of those, and scored three times driving in four runs to lead the Honkers.

Brian Steinmeyer led the MoonDogs offense going 2-3 with a run scored and Kevin Dixon went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI.

The MoonDogs will be back in action tonight in Mankato against the Waterloo Bucks. It’s "Buck Night” so anyone coming out to "The Frank” will get $1 admission, $1 hot dogs, and $1 sodas. For tickets stop by either Mankato Hy-Vee location or the MoonDogs ticket office, otherwise call 507-625-7047.
