In extra-innings last night, the Rochester Honkers tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth, and in the bottom of the tenth they would score the winning run on a successful squeeze play, upending the MoonDogs 5-4.

The MoonDogs went into the bottom of the eighth with a 4-1 lead before Rochester started to make its’ comeback. They would get one run in the eighth and then with closer Neil Wagner on the hill for the MoonDogs in the bottom of the ninth, Rochester would rally for two more runs and sent the game into extra-innings.

Unable to score a run in the top of the tenth, the Honkers continued to carry the momentum and eventually scored the game winner on a squeeze bunt by Dan Lyons in the bottom of the tenth. Lyons went 3-6 in the contest with one double, two runs scored and a RBI for the Honkers.

Manny Bishop, who started for the MoonDogs, had a nice game going five and one-third innings while spreading out seven hits, giving up just one run and whiffing three Honkers.

MoonDogs Kevin Dixon went deep for the first time this season and ended the night going 2-4.

Tonight the MoonDogs will go against Rochester once again, then returning home for a Monday night contest at Franklin Rogers Park against the Waterloo Bucks.
