An impressive display of fire power by the MoonDogs lit up the scoreboard like the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, as the ‘Dogs plated 13 runs in the first three innings to defeat the St. Cloud River Bats 13-2.

The MoonDogs wasted no time unwrapping their gifts on "Christmas in June,” scoring six runs in the first stanza. Brad Baker gave the 992 fans in attendance something to cheer about as his huge hit in the bottom of the first inning unleashed a bases-clearing triple. Eventually, eleven MoonDogs would bat in the inning, while picking up four hits and three walks in the process.

Just as fast as Santa Claus could eat his milk and cookies, the ‘Dogs were at it again posting another three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Baker once again came through with the clutch hit, as his single produced two more runs.

In the bottom of the third, the MoonDogs continued to hound the River Bats pitching staff by scoring another four runs. Grant Rembert’s double pushed across two of those runs.

Manny Bishop started for the ‘Dogs as he pitched five splendid innings to pick up his first win of the season. He gave up just one hit while striking out six River Bats.

Ryan Chirelli went 3-4 with a double, one run scored, and a RBI. Grant Rembert knocked out three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs. Brad Baker finished 2-5 with a triple, one run scored, and five RBI.

The MoonDogs look to take down the North Division leaders once again Saturday night at Franklin Rogers Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. as it’s Budweiser’s Summertime St. Patty’s Day. The luck of the Irish will be all around. For tickets stop by either Mankato Hy-Vee location or MoonDogs ticket office, otherwise call 507-625-7047.
