Weather conditions that resembled a football game at "The Frank,” included cool temperatures and a constant drizzle the first 2 innings.
In the first game of the double-header played at the cold and drizzly Franklin Rogers Park, Madison took game one, 9-3.
Warren Rosebrock started on the hill for the MoonDogs, and the tough elements showed early, as Rosebrock struggled with his control and the mound, allowing 6 runs in the top of the first.
With the drizzle still coming down, the MoonDogs came right back in the bottom of the first to score 2 runs. Matt Falk provided the big hit with a 2 RBI double that hit off the right-center field fence.
Unfortunately for Rosebrock, the Mallards and the inclimate weather did him in, pitching just 3 innings and getting tagged with his second loss of the season.
The Mallards went on to score 1 run in the top of the third inning and 2 more runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Mankato tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fifth to finish off the scoring in game one.
Ryan Chiarelli went 2-4 on the night and Matt Falk finished 1-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
Game 2 Suspended in Bottom of 1st
