The first inning proved to be the difference in game 2 between Madison and Mankato, as 4 first inning runs off of MoonDogs starter Cole DeVries propelled the Mallards to take game 2, 5-1.

Mallards catcher, John Martin, had the big hit in the first inning, producing 2 runs on a single.

DeVries had a difficulty getting out of the top of the first inning, but after that he settled down and pitched scoreless ball for 5 innings to give the ‘Dogs a chance.

The MoonDogs got 1 run back in the bottom of the second inning off of an Adam Frank single to bring in Brad Baker, but that is all the ‘Dogs could get.

DeVries pitched 6 innings, gave up 5 runs (1 unearned) on 5 hits, walked 1 and struck out 8.

Brad Baker finished 2-3 with a RBI.
