After the MoonDogs held an early 3-1 lead through four innings, Rochester’s offense woke up, scoring four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth, to break the game open and take the game, 8-3.

Rochester scored one run in the top of the first, then in the bottom half of the inning, Mankato put together a nice 2 out rally. Aaron Grant, Grant Rembert and Matt Falk hit three straight singles that scored Aaron Grant for the first run, then Rembert also scored on an error by the right fielder to make it 2-1.

Mankato scored once more in the bottom of the third, but that’s all they could get, as Honkers pitchers, Matt Eckardt and Mike Saddler, shut down the ‘Dogs the rest of the game.

A great crowd of 1,252 at Franklin Rogers Park saw Aaron Grant go 2-4, with 2 runs scored and a stolen base.

Matt Eckardt picked up his third win on the season for Rochester and Saddler earned his first save.

Both teams will go head-to-head once again Wednesday, July 21 to play a matinee contest starting at 1:05 p.m. in Rochester.
