(Mankato, MN) — The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the signing of pitcher Travis Goset and infielder Dan Russell to their 2005 roster.

Goset (6’3” 192 lbs.) comes to the MoonDogs from the University of Kansas. Currently a junior for the Jayhawks, Goset has a 3.00 ERA with seven strikeouts in limited innings of work.

Prior to his Kansas career, Goset played for Palomar Community College (San Marcos, CA). For Palomar in 2004, Goset posted a 3.98 ERA and set a school record for the Comets with seven pickoffs. He was also selected to play in the California Community College All-Star Classic following the 2004 season.

As a senior at Temecula Valley High School, (Temecula, CA) Goset posted 7-2 record with a 2.52 ERA and also threw a perfect game. Goset was a second-team All-Southwest League selection and was selected to the Riverside County All-Star team.

"Travis is a much needed left handed pitcher” said MoonDogs head coach Robbie Huffstetler. "You can expect to see him starting for us this summer. He brings a great left hook to a pitching staff dominated by right handed pitching.”

Russell (5’11” 175 lbs.) comes to the MoonDogs via Fort Hays State University (Hays, KS), where he is also a junior. For the Tigers, Russell is hitting .313 and currently leads the team in doubles (9) and triples (3). Russell is also second on the team in home runs (2) and RBI (26), while starting in all 23 games.

College Baseball Magazine listed Russell as a "Blue Chip” player-to-watch at the NCAA Division II level in 2005.

"Dan is going to be our starting shortstop this summer.” said coach Huffstetler. "He provides a lot of speed and power at the plate and is going to allow us to do some things offensively, like hit and run and utilize other small-ball tactics.”

The MoonDogs Home Opener is set for June 6, 2005, against the St. Cloud River Bats. Season tickets and group tickets are on sale now with single game tickets available May 7. Call the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047 or check out www.mankatomoondogs.com for more information.
