(Mankato, MN) — The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the signing of first baseman Josh Stirneman to their 2005 roster.

Stirneman (6’2” 210 lbs) is in his sophomore season with Blinn College (Brenham, TX). This season he is currently hitting .366 for the Buccaneers while knocking in 30 RBI and scoring 35 runs.

In 2004, Stirneman was honored for his defensive performance by being presented the Regional Defensive MVP award. That same season Stirneman was also invited to the Texas-New Mexico All-Star game, and was named to the Southern All-District team.

Stinerman is also an all star in the classroom as well as the field. Last semester he was named to the Blinn student athlete honor roll, having attained a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

While playing for Cuero High School (Cuero, TX) Stirneman was named Newcomer of the Year in 2001. He was named to the all district team from 2001-2003 and was given All-State honors, and was invited to play in the Texas All-star game in 2003.

"Josh is a very solid baseball player, who can hit for both average and power and is very sure-handed when he’s in the field,” MoonDogs head coach Robbie Huffstetler said.
