9th Inning Rally Falls Short
(6/14/2005)

With a 3-1 home record, the MoonDogs looked to continue their success at "The Frank” by defeating the La Crosse Loggers. After a 40 minute rain delay, it was the Loggers though, that came out victorious, 5-4, despite a 9th inning rally by the MoonDogs.

With the score 5-3 going into the ninth inning, Aaron Grant led off with a double down the right field line. Reid Fronk then hit a deep ball over the centerfielders head, scoring Grant to pull within one run. After Fronk advanced to second off an error, Drew Davis grounded out moving Fronk over to third. With one out and Fronk on third, the MoonDogs were unable to score him, ending the game in a 5-4 win for the Loggers.

MoonDogs starting pitcher Mike Miller went 5 innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out 5 in the process. Kevin Regan added to his league leading number of appearances (9), allowing no runs and striking out three in his one inning of work.

Aaron Grant led the MoonDogs in hitting, playing in his first game back on the MoonDogs. Grant went 2-3 with one run and one walk. L.J. Mims had another solid night at the dish, going 2-4 with one RBI and a stolen base.
