MoonDogs Pounce on River Bats

The Mankato MoonDogs beat the St. Cloud River Bats 8-5 on Saturday thanks to sloppy play by the River Bats in the seventh inning. The Dog’s came out running, swiping a total of five bases on five tries to help them split the two-game series.

The contest was knotted at 5-5 until the River Bats committed two errors in the seventh inning costing them three runs and the game. Kevin Regan picked up his first win for the MoonDogs after working 4.1 innings in relief and allowing no runs while striking out five River Bats. The MoonDogs closer, Neil Wagner, picked up his fourth save of the season going one inning and striking out two.

The leagues leading hitter Reid Fronk showcased his hitting talent once again going 2-3 at the plate with one walk, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Drew Davis drove in two runs and plated one run while going 1-4 on the night. Matt Mossey continued to swing a big stick, driving in a pair of runs in a 1-4 outing.

The MoonDogs will enjoy an off day on Sunday, June 26, to prepare for their up coming home series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks. "The King and His Court” will be performing on Monday at 6:05 before the MoonDogs game. Eddie Feigner, "The King of Softball” and his team will amaze fans with all their antics.
