Fronk Steals Show at "The Frank"
(7/4/05)

The MoonDogs came into their series with the Alexandria Beetles, riding high off a victory over the St. Cloud River Bats. That night was third baseman Reid Fronk’s night off. Tonight, however, was a different story for Fronk. Tonight, was Reid Fronk’s time to shine as he hit two round trippers to help the MoonDogs over power the Beetles 5-4.

After the Beetles got out to a quick one run lead in the first, Fronk stepped up to the plate with Aaron Grant on first. Fronk then belted a ball over the rightfield fence to help his team gain a 2-1 lead. Brandon Crawford extended the lead in the third inning when he singled with runners on second and third to score a pair of runs and extend the lead to 4-1.

The Beetles went on to score three runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4. All eyes were on Reid Fronk though when he stepped up in the bottom of the inning. Fronk did not disappoint has he blasted a solo shot over the right field fence again for his second bomb of the night and the game winner.

Tyson Brummett started the game for the MoonDogs going six innings and earning his fourth win of the year. Derek Tarapacki pitched two innings in relief, allowing no runs or hits. Neil Wagner closed the door on the Beetles, striking out two batters in the ninth inning to pick up his sixth save of the year.

Fronk finished the night with a pair of runs, three RBI, and a 2-4 night at the plate. Shortstop Brandon Crawford also contributed on the offensive side, collecting two hits in four at bats and two RBI.

The MoonDogs will look to sweep the series tomorrow night, July 5th, at 7:05 p.m. The first 300 kids in attendance, ages 14 and under, will receive a free mini-bat. For tickets call the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047 or stop by either Hy-Vee location in Mankato.
