Border Cats and Weather Doom MoonDogs
(7/17/05)

The Thunder Bay Border Cats rolled into Mankato on Sunday tied with the MoonDogs for first place in the North Division. Thanks to a game winning homerun in the 5th inning from Matt Mangini and inclement weather, the game was forced to be called in the sixth inning allowing the Border Cats to walk off the field with a 1-0 victory.

MoonDogs pitcher Tyson Brummett and Border Cats pitcher Morgan Carlile clashed on the mound as each displayed solid performances. Brummett went all six innings giving up just three hits and one earned run while striking out six Border Cats. Carlile did one better though, as he earned the win, pitching a one hitter through his six innings of work. Both pitchers demonstrated their control on the mound as neither pitcher walked a batter.

Designated hitter, Drew Davis, notched the only hit of the game for the MoonDogs with a lead off double to left center in the fourth inning. Davis finished the game 1-3 on the night.

The MoonDogs and Border Cats continue their six game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at "The Frank”. The first 500 kids, 16 years old and younger, will receive a free pack of MoonDogs trading cards presented by Hy-Vee and Z-99. For tickets call the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047 or stop by either Hy-Vee location in Mankato.
