Ballpark Fronk!
(7/29/05)

With the bases loaded, two outs, and the game tied at 3-3, Reid Fronk stepped up to the plate to face off against Waterloo Bucks pitcher Blake Martin. Fronk came through in the clutch as he belted a ball through the middle of the infield scoring Robert Rodebaugh from third to win the opening game of the series 4-3.

The Bucks came out red hot as the put three runs on the scoreboard in the first inning including a solo shot from Michael Bertram. The MoonDogs answered though in the bottom of the inning when Shane Buschini jacked a long ball over the scoreboard for a two run home run, pulling the MoonDogs to within one run at 3-2.

MoonDogs pitcher Mike Miller entered the game for starter Brandon Thomson in the first inning as Thomson aggravated an injury to his hip. Miller held the Bucks at bay, allowing no runs and just one hit over the next seven innings. The MoonDogs, however, were able to tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth when Matt Mossey scored off a ball that got by the catcher as the Bucks tried to intentionally walk Buschini.

Derek Tarapacki relieved Miller in the ninth inning with the game still tied at 3-3. Tarapacki tossed a hitless inning to give the MoonDogs a shot to win it. Robert Rodebaugh repeated his performance of Thursday night, and led off the ninth inning with a single. This time though the MoonDogs were able to score Rodebaugh thanks to Reid Fronk’s single and get Tarapacki his second win of the season with a 4-3 victory.

Buschini finished the game going 1-4 including a homerun with one run scored, and two RBI. Fronk went 1-3 on the night with one RBI and one walk.
