Beetles Snap MoonDogs Win Streak

The Alexandria Beetles welcomed the MoonDogs to the site of the 2005 All-Star game with an offensive explosion including 19 hits and 3 homeruns. The MoonDogs did all they could to keep pace but the Beetles bats were too hot as they went on to beat the MoonDogs 16-4, and snap the MoonDogs five game winning streak.

Scoring four runs in the first inning on a pair of two run home runs, the Beetles busted out to a 4-0 lead over the MoonDogs. The MoonDogs tried to get something started in the top of the fourth inning when Aaron Grant hit a solo shot to pull within three runs. But the bottom of the fourth proved devastating for the MoonDogs as the Beetles ran up seven runs to extend their lead to 11-1. Though the MoonDogs fought back with three runs in the sixth, the Beetles out did the ‘Dogs, scoring five more runs to take the 16-4 win.

Aaron Grant led the MoonDogs on the offensive side going 2-4 at the plate including a home run with two RBI, one run scored, and one walk. Ryan Addison added 3 RBI on a 1-4 night including a double.

Kevin Regan extended his league leading number of appearances to 35 games, just three games shy of the NWL record of 38. In is outing he went one inning allowing no hits or runs while striking out one.

The MoonDogs and Beetles will continue play on Monday Night at 7:05 p.m. Both teams will leave it all on the field as each have a slim shot at the North Division second half title.
