MoonDogs Drop Second Straight
(8/8/05)

With a slim hope of a playoff berth in the back of their minds, the MoonDogs competed in Alexandria, Monday night, against the red hot Beetles. Playing in their last game at the site of 2005 All-Star game, the MoonDogs hurled lefty Cameron Young against Drew Saberhagan, hoping to end the Beetles four game winning streak. The MoonDogs could not get it done though as the Beetles cruised to a 6-1 victory handing the MoonDogs their second straight loss.

The Beetles jumped out to an early lead after two innings when Matt Rademacher crushed a single with the bases loaded to score two runs giving the Beetles a 2-0 lead. The MoonDogs then gave up one more run in the third, allowing the Beetles to go up 3-0. After six innings of work, the MoonDogs relieved Young with Kevin Regan in hopes to cool off the Beetles. The bleeding didn’t stop though as the Beetles scored three more runs in the seventh on six hits including an RBI double by Allen Craig to extend the lead to 6-0.

The MoonDogs finally broke the shutout in the eighth inning when Reid Fronk drilled an RBI double, scoring L.J. Mims. As the Beetles went on to win their fifth straight game, 6-1, the MoonDogs found themselves on a two game slide.

Fronk led the MoonDogs in hitting going 2-4 including a double with one RBI. Brandon Crawford posted a 1-2 night including a double and one walk.
