Extra, Extra! "Reid" All About It!
(8/11/05)

As Reid Fronk stepped up to the plate in the top of the ninth inning on Thursday night, the scoreboard read 4-3 in favor of the home team, the St. Cloud River Bats. One night after Fronk blasted two home runs and 6 RBI to propel the ‘Dogs over the Alexandria Beetles, the third baseman jacked a solo shot to knot the game at 4-4 sending it into extra innings. Fronk’s night didn’t end there though. With the game pushed into extra innings, Fronk needed just a triple to hit for the cycle. He got his chance with the bases loaded in the top of the tenth inning. Fronk slugged a ball down the right field line, clearing the bases as he legged out a triple to accomplish the great feat and help his team go on to an 8-4 win over the River Bats!

Fronk finished the game a near perfect 5-6 including two singles, a double, a triple, and a home run with four RBI and two runs scored. His career night earned him the "Northwoods League Player of the Night” for the second day in a row. Fronk has now combined for eight hits, three of which are home runs, five runs scored, and 10 RBI in the past two games. The North Carolina standout is the only player this season to hit for the cycle and the first in the NWL to do it since the 2003 season.

Ryan Addison also turned in a solid performance going 2-6 with one run scored and one RBI. Aaron Grant collected three hits in the contest and Alberto Cruz doubled twice while driving in one RBI.

Tyson Brummett pitched in his last start of the season for the MoonDogs working 6.2 innings allowing three earned runs while striking out three River Bats. Joey Haug picked up the win improving his record to 5-6 as he pitched 2.1 innings of hitless ball. The MoonDogs relied on Kevin Regan in the bottom of the tenth to seal the deal for the ‘Dogs as they went on to win their sixth straight against the North Division’s first half champion, St. Cloud River Bats
