(7/16/06) For the second time in eight days, the combination of Bryan Woodall and Lucas Duda did in the Mankato MoonDogs.

Woodall threw a complete game six-hitter, and Duda launched a two-run home run to provide Woodall with a comfortable lead as the Alexandria Beetles took a 5-1 win Sunday night to halt the MoonDogs’ four-game winning streak.

On July 8, Duda had an RBI single and a stolen base and Woodall gave up one run in 7.1 innings to beat Dan Klous and the MoonDogs 2-1. On Sunday, Woodall again gave up just one run, a two-out double in the eighth by Shane Buschini, and again it was Klous on the losing end.

The Beetles took an early lead against Klous (2-3) on the strength of their running game, executing a double steal that allowed Sean Jones to score from third while Danny Worth swiped second base. Worth gave the Beetles a 2-0 advantage moments later when he stole third, and scored on an errant throw by catcher Ben Geelan.

A leadoff walk came back to haunt Klous in the fourth inning, as he issued a free pass to Jonathan Greene, who scored on Duda’s second home run of the season. Klous finished by allowing five runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.

Meanwhile, the MoonDogs did not muster much of a threat against Woodall outside of a bases loaded opportunity in the third inning. Geelan was hit by a pitch, Tim Smith drew a walk and Chris Henault singled to load the bases with nobody out. But Buschini grounded into a double play and Ryan Addison flied out to end the threat.
