(Mankato, MN) –The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is excited to announce the 2007 season promotional schedule. Opening night, which is Friday, June 1, will be highlighted by a visit from Hall of Famer Bob Feller, as well as Wally the Beerman. To cap off the first night of Northwoods League baseball in Mankato in 2007, the MoonDogs are excited to show off a post-game fireworks extravaganza.
This season’s promotions feature an assortment of giveaways, appearances, mascots, fireworks, and as always, free MoonDogs gear. After opening night, June offers up several opportunities to come out and catch the MoonDogs. On Tuesday, June 19, the "fastest growing entertainment act in the country,” the ZOOperstars will be at Franklin Rogers Park. Join Clammy Sosa and Cow Ripken, Jr. as they flip, dance, and mock umpires all night. Other June promotions include magnet schedule, mini-bat, t-shirt, and piggy bank giveaways, Country and Western Night, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in June, a night of Deal or No Deal, and Muttnik hosts the Mascot Olympics on Friday, June 29.
July features plenty more opportunities for promotions and MoonDogs baseball. On Wednesday, July 18, the MoonDogs will be hosting William "The Refrigerator” Perry, former Super Bowl champ and current competitive eater. Come to the game and see if you can out-"shuffle” or outeat The Fridge. Also, Minnesota Twins Night on Thursday, July 26, will feature appearances by former Twin Al Newman, as well as Twins Mascot TC Bear. July offers an assortment of other promotional activities as well. A July 4th celebration, a Vegas giveaway, and Ladies Night highlight the rest of the July promotions.
If you can’t get enough baseball, the MoonDogs give everyone eight more chances to be a part of the MoonDogs experience. The month of August features a MoonDogs baseball glove giveaway on Thursday, August 9. The first 300 kids 14 and under receive the one-of-a-kind MoonDogs mitt. The MoonDogs will continue to clean out the promotions shed as they give away posters, bobbleheads, and tire gauges in August. A mystery promotion night, as well as That 70s Night, topped off by a Fan Appreciation Night featuring another set of post-game fireworks to finish off the regular season on Friday, August 10, round out the 2007 promotional schedule.
The MoonDogs Home Opener is set for June 1, 2007 against the defending Northwoods League champion, Rochester Honkers. Mankato will also be the host of the 13th annual Northwoods League All-Star Game on July 11, 2007.
