(Mankato, MN) – The MoonDog offense appeared to be gaining momentum tonight. The bats looked alive, but the balls were not falling in all the right places as the MoonDogs produced four runs on five hits and couldn’t come up with the victory going down 7-4 to the Waterloo Bucks.

For the MoonDogs, five different batters produced the evening’s hits, most notably infielder James Keithley, outfielder Jovan Rodriguez, and newcomer designated hitter Nate Hanson, each of whom drove in one run a piece for the MoonDogs. Starter Jordan Tiegs (0-1) threw six innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and striking out three.

Waterloo was led by second baseman Chris Clark. Clark went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving one. First baseman Mark Pappas drove in most of the Bucks’ runs on the evening, going 1-for-2 and driving in four runs. Bucks starter Brenden Stines (1-0) nabbed the win, going six and one third innings and giving up four runs.

The MoonDogs are off to Waterloo tomorrow for the final game of the series. The game is slated to start at 7:05 pm. The MoonDogs will return to Mankato next Friday, June 15th for a series against the Battle Creek Bombers.
