(Mankato) – It was a rough night all-around for the MoonDogs on Tuesday night as the River Bats defeated the MoonDogs 8-3. Brendan Lafferty (0-1) had a tough first start for the MoonDogs, going three innings, giving up four runs, none earned, on four hits.

The MoonDog offense had a hard time finding the right spots in the field as well. Third baseman Nate Hanson recorded two of the MoonDogs five hits on the evening. First baseman Mike Lobacz recorded the MoonDogs only RBI. Leadoff hitter CJ Belanger scored twice and outfielder James Keithley scored once.

With Lafferty only throwing three innings, Tim Ryan was called in. Ryan threw 1 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on two hits. Ron Miller had a solid outing as he gave up just one run on three hits over the last 4 2/3 innings, while striking out five.

For the River Bats, shortstop Adam Yeager recorded two hits and drove in two runs. Right fielder DJ Belfonte, left fielder Tim Wheeler, and second baseman Derek McCallum each recorded one hit and two runs scored. First baseman Adam Kampsen and catcher Kevin Gonzalez each had an RBI on the evening, and center fielder Dave Brugamin and third baseman Brian Hernandez each scored once.

The River Bats pitching was led by starter Isaac Morales (2-1) who threw six innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits. Reliever Joe Campbell finished off the game, throwing three scoreless innings.

The MoonDogs will host the River Bats once again tomorrow night at 7:05 pm. Tomorrow night is Summertime St. Patty’s Day Night at Franklin Rogers Park. Tickets are still available by calling the MoonDogs office at 507-625-7047 or by stopping by the office.
