(St. Cloud, MN) – The MoonDogs (13-16) played in another close game Saturday night, but this time they would end up on the losing side of the effort as they dropped a 3-0 loss to the River Bats (20-10). Starter Jordan Tiegs (2-3) and reliever Mark Haderlein combined to hold the River Bats to just three runs, but St. Cloud starter Michael Hill (1-1) would not let the MoonDogs get on the board.

Shortstop Jason Christian led the MoonDogs, going 2-for-3, and outfielder Jaime Armendariz was 1-for-3 with a double. Starter Jordan Tiegs went 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on nine hits and fanning four. Reliever Mark Haderlein finished off the game, going 2 2/3 innings and giving up one unearned run and no hits.

For the River Bats, second baseman TJ Thompson and left fielder Tim Wheeler combined for four hits and each drove in a run with Thompson scoring once. Right fielder Matt Fanelli was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and catcher Kevin Gonzalez scored once.

St. Cloud starter Michael Hill went six innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four. Sean Wideberg replaced Hill and went two innings, giving up two hits and no runs. River Bats closer Ryan Wrobel finished off the game, pitching a scoreless ninth to record his eighth save.

The MoonDogs finish off the series tonight against the River Bats before traveling to Thunder Bay. They return home Wednesday, July 4th for a four-game homestand.
