(Rochester, MN) – The MoonDogs (1-4, 18-21) used dominant pitching performances from starter Brendan Lafferty (2-1) and reliever Adam Abraham to take a 3-1 victory over the Rochester Honkers (2-3, 20-19) on Friday night in Rochester. Lafferty went seven strong innings, giving up just one run on six hits while striking out three, to take the win.

The MoonDogs only recorded two hits, but were patient at the plate and drew nine walks to help them get the three runs they needed to secure the victory. Designated hitter Adam Abraham was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Left fielder Jaime Armendariz also recorded a single and drove in a run. Armendariz, along with center fielder CJ Belanger, each stole two bases. Second baseman Jason Christian and catcher Ben Geelan each scored once for the MoonDogs. Following Lafferty’s quality start, Abraham closed out the game by throwing a hitless final two innings to record his first save of the season. Abraham recorded a strike out for five of his six outs.

The Honkers ended up with six hits, led by second baseman Raynor Campbell, who was 2-for-3. Right fielder Aaron Senne recorded the game’s only extra-base hit when he smashed a home run in the bottom of the first inning. Rochester starter Reyes Dorado went five hitless innings, but managed to give up a run after walking five batters. Reliever Sean Finn (1-5) would record the loss after throwing 3 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on just one hit. Finn struck out five, but walked four to bring the Honker walk total to nine.
