(Mankato, MN) – MoonDogs starter Luke Vine (4-3) could not have done more to lead the MoonDogs (8-10, 25-27) to an 8-0 victory Friday night in Waterloo. Vine used a complete game four-hitter with eleven strikeouts to shutout the Bucks (9-10,24-29 ) and record the win.

Vine didn’t need much, but he got help from his offense, led by third baseman Nate Hanson, who was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and a run batted in. The four-hit night brought Hanson’s season batting average back up to .377. Designated hitter Mike Lobacz was 2-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Catcher Jeff DeSmidt also doubled during his 2-for-5 night. DeSmidt scored once and drove in a run. Right fielder James Keithley was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and middle infielders Sean Nicol and Jason Christian each recorded a single and scored once for the MoonDogs.

The Bucks offense managed just four hits off Vine, led by third baseman Bryan Resnick, who went 2-for-3. Waterloo starter Brendan Stines (2-5) had a quality start for the Bucks, going six innings and giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out ten MoonDog batters. Joe Smith threw a rough eighth inning, giving up three runs on four hits in an inning pitched, and Brandon Hennessey closed it out for the Bucks, throwing a hitless ninth inning while striking out two of three batters he faced.
