(Mankato, MN) – Former 2004 MoonDog pitcher and current Beloit Snapper Cole Devries was named co-Brodie Trophy Players of the Year award along with teammate and pitcher, Alex Burnett. The Brodie Trophy Player of the Year is awarded to the top player(s) of the Beloit Snappers, Class A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.

Devries, who was also named to the 2007 Midwest League All-Star team, finished the season 9-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 25 starts this year. The nine wins tied for first on the team, while his 148 innings pitched and 108 strikeouts ranked second and third respectively.

After a strong start in the Midwest League, Beloit won the Western Division First Half Championship with a 44-26 record (79-61 overall). In the playoffs, the Snappers defeated the Swing of the Quad Cities and Clinton LumberKings in the first two rounds of the playoffs and advanced to the Midwest League Championship. In the Championship Series, Beloit would drop a decisive game five 11-5 to MWL Champions, West Michigan Whitecaps.

Devries, who signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Minnesota Twins and a graduate from the University of Minnesota, dominated game one of the semi-finals against the Clinton LumberKings. The right hander allowed just one run on four hits, with no walks and five strike outs in a complete game (9 innings) 6-1 victory for the Snappers.

While a member of the 2004 MoonDogs, Devries frustrated opposing hitters. In 48 innings pitched, he finished with 57 strikeouts, only 12 walks and opponents hit a meager .228 against him. His strikeout total and opponent batting average ranked him second on the team.
