(Mankato, MN) – The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the release of the 2008 MoonDogs game schedule.

The MoonDogs will begin their seventh year in the Northwoods League on the road against the Rochester Honkers in Rochester, Minnesota on May 29, and then return to play the Honkers at home on Friday, May 30. With a post-game fireworks extravaganza planned, the MoonDogs will look to break last season’s home opener attendance record of 2,134 fans. That following Sunday, June 1, the defending Northwoods League Champion St. Cloud River Bats will make their highly anticipated return to Franklin Rogers Park.

After not playing Green Bay last year, the Bullfrogs will make their first appearance to the Frank on Monday, June 9 kicking off a six-game home stand.

On Wednesday, July 9 the MoonDogs will start their longest stretch of home games when they host the Battle Creek Bombers for the first of 11 home games in 15 days. In the midst of the longest home stand, the 14th Annual Northwoods League All-Star Game will be played on Monday, July 14 in Madison, Wisconsin.

In August, the 2007 South Division Champion Eau Claire Express will invade the Frank on Wednesday, August 6 to begin the final home stand of the 2008 regular season. Capping off the 2008 regular season will be Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, August 9 against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

The 2008 schedule is comprised of 68 games that will be played over the course of 74 days. Even though the season starts two days earlier than last year, it ends only one day earlier. This is because all teams in the league have been given an extra day off.
