(Mankato, MN)–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce that manager Jason Nell (Iowa Lakes CC) has been named Manager of the 2008 North Division All-Star team in the 2008 Northwoods League All-Star Game on Monday, July 14th in Madison, Wisconsin after leading the MoonDogs to a 20-14 record and the North Division first-half championship.

This season, Nell and the MoonDogs got off to a very impressive start winning 14 of their first 17 games that included a 5-game winning streak from June 3-7. Through the first half of games (34), the MoonDogs lead the Northwoods League in team offense (.268 batting average) and fourth in team pitching (3.05 earned run average).

Nell, who is in his third year as field manager, has an impressive win total of 101 wins (67 as field manager) coming into the 2008 season. In 2005, Nell served as an assistant coach for the MoonDogs before taking over as field manager before the 2006 season.

Joining Nell on the North Division coaching staff will be MoonDogs assistant coaches Ryan Levondoski (Western TC) and Erich Pfohl.

Madison Mallards Manager C.J. Thielke, who is in his third season as Mallards field manager, will coach the South Division All-Stars after leading his team to a 22-11 record and the South Division first-half championship.
