(Mankato, MN)–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce that five players have been named to the 2008 North Division All-Star Game Roster. Starting pitchers Jimmy Reyes and Brendan Lafferty, out fielders Cory Harrilchak and Michael Rockett, and catcher Carlos Ramirez will represent the team in Madison on July 13th and 14th.

Brendan Lafferty (UCLA) is currently 2-0 on the season with a 0.56 ERA in three appearances this season. In his two starts this season, Lafferty has pitched 14 innings allowing one unearned run on five hits. He has 20 strikeouts, with a season-high 12 against Eau Claire on June 24th. Opponents are hitting only .115 against Lafferty this season.

Jimmy Reyes (Elon) is currently 2-1 on the season with a 1.03 ERA (3rd in the NWL). Reyes has made six appearances including five starts and one relief appearance. He does have one complete game pitched on the season. Reyes has only allowed four earned runs on 21 hits in 35 innings pitched and has struck out 34 batters while walking only eight thus far this season. Opponents are hitting .181 against the left-hander this season.

Cory Harrilchak (Elon) is currently hitting .311 for the Mankato MoonDogs this season in 28 games played. Harrilchak has a team-high two triples on the season and is one of five MoonDogs with home runs on the year. Harrilchak made a great NWL debut going 5-for-5 in his first game of the season against the Green Bay Bullfrogs on June 9th. Harrilchak has also made his presence felt on the pitcher’s mound going 2-0 on the season in four appearances including a complete-game five hit shutout of the Alexandria Beetles on June 29th. Harrilchak is the only pitcher on either All-Start team roster with a shutout and a save this season.

Carlos Ramirez (Chandler-Gilbert) is currently hitting .347 (5th in the NWL) and leads the league in numerous offensive categories. Ramirez has been around the top of the league in batting average for the most of the season and currently leads the league in home runs (8), slugging percentage (.637), extra-base hits (20). Ramirez is also ranked fourth in RBI (30), fourth in hits (43), and fifth in on-base percentage (.457). Ramirez has shown his arm strength behind the plate throwing out twelve base runners (41%) attempting to steal on MoonDog pitchers.

Michael Rockett (Texas-San Antonio) is currently hitting .314 for the MoonDogs in 36 games played. Rockett is currently leading the NWL in hits (50) is tied with teammate Ramirez and others for second in the league in doubles (12), ranks third in the league in extra-base hits (17) and tied for third in runs scored with 28 on the season. Rockett has three home runs on the year and 31 RBI (3rd in the NWL).
