(Mankato, MN) – The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the release of the 2009 MoonDogs game schedule.

The MoonDogs will begin their eighth year in the Northwoods League on the road against the Rochester Honkers in Rochester, Minnesota on May 28, and then return to play the Honkers at home on Friday, May 29. With a post-game fireworks extravaganza planned, the MoonDogs will look to break the 2,000 attendance plateau for the 3rd consecutive season.

The MoonDogs will open the season with eight of their first ten games on the road before returning for a stretch of twelve home games in fourteen days. Kicking off this stint on June 8th and 9th, the MoonDogs welcome the defending Northwoods League Champion Thunder Bay Border Cats to Franklin Rogers Park.

MoonDogs home game times (Monday – Saturday) at 7:05 pm and Sunday are 6:05. The two exceptions are the June 17th game against the Green Bay Bullfrogs that starts at 1:05 pm and the 4th of July game against the La Crosse Loggers that starts at 6:05 pm.

The MoonDogs schedule consists of 68 games including eight games against each team in the North Division (4 home and 4 away) and four games (2 home and 2 away) against five select teams in the South Division. The MoonDogs will not play the Battle Creek Bombers and the Madison Mallards in 2009.

The MoonDogs home season concludes with a 2-game home stand against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Friday, August 7th and Saturday, August 8th. The Northwoods League Divisional Playoffs begin on August 11 and conclude with the NWL Championship Series August 14-16. The annual All-Star Game will be played in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Tuesday, July 21, matching the South Division All-Stars versus the North Division All-Stars.
