(Mankato, MN)–The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is proud to announce the signing of two players for 2009. Junior pitcher Josh Castanza, and sophomore outfielder Danny Miller, both of Minnesota State University, Mankato have committed to play for the MoonDogs this summer.

Castanza, a 6’1” 190 lb. junior from Safety Harbor, FL, is returning for his third summer with the MoonDogs. The left-handed pitcher currently holds the team record for most games pitched with 55, and is looking forward to adding to that record this summer.

Last season for the MoonDogs, Castanza appeared in 23 games, finishing with a 2-0 record, one save, and a 2.12 ERA over 34.0 innings. Opposing batters hit just .183 against him, while striking out 34 times.

Miller, a 6’1” 180 lb. sophomore, has started 22 games for the Mavericks in 2009. He is currently helping to pace MSU with a .371 average, five doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 13 RBI. Defensively, he has yet to make an error in left field.

On the season, the Mavericks boast a 15-9 record overall, with a stellar 8-0 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, and are currently riding a 10 game winning streak.

The Mankato MoonDogs 2009 Home Opener is set for Friday, May 29 at 7:05 PM against the Rochester Honkers. Single game tickets will go on sale May 2nd at 10:00 AM.
