Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, are near the finalization of their roster, with the signing of two 10-day players in Matt Swynenberg (Black Hawk College) and Shaun Wegner (Wisconsin-Milwaukee)

Swynenberg will look to be ‘paint the black’ for the MoonDogs early on in the season, as he comes from Black Hawk College. Swynenberg anchored the BHC staff this spring, going 6-1 in eight appearances. The big righty struck out 48 in 38 innings pitched, posting a fine 3.32 ERA.

Wegner just finished up his junior season at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will give the MoonDogs some much needed depth at the catcher position. Wegner played in 47 of 55 games for the Panthers, batting .235 and scoring 22 runs. Wegner also homered three times and drove in 16 for the 28-27 Panthers.

The MoonDogs open the season Thursday at Rochester before their home opener Friday against the same Rochester squad. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and will be accompanied by special guest Jerry Koosman and a post game fireworks extravaganza.
